FAQ and Support
The firewood got wet. How can we still burn the logs?
Allow the wood to dry before attempting to light your fire. Sunlight and ventilation will provide the quickest drying environment. Starting a fire with wet wood is a challenge. Extra kindling is recommended. Once a fire is established, small quantities of wet wood can be added intermittently.
What’s the best way to extinguish my fire?
Extinguish with water. The fire is completely out when the coals are cool and can be handled with bare hands.
Is it safe to cook over any of the Eco Forest firewood products?
All firewood products in the Eco Forest firewood line are 100% natural with no additives whatsoever and are safe for cooking.
What’s the best way to start my fire?
Great ingredients make great fires. Use our Light ‘n Go Alder Kindling or our Light ‘n Go Lighterballs to start your Eco Forest White Birch or Simple Simon Mixed Hardwood. Please choose a location, indoors or out, which is suitable for burning.
Is Simple Simon Hardwood safe to burn indoors?
Yes, Simple Simon Harwood is all natural and chemical free, and safe to burn indoors in a location suitable for burning.
Why is Simple Simon Hardwood a better choice than other firewood?

Why is kiln dried better?
Kiln drying produces a better performing hardwood, while at the same time offering a pest free product.
What makes the Light 'n Go Logs burn?
A patented design allows the wicks of both the Light ‘n Go GO Log and the Light ‘n Go Yule Log to catch quickly and allow it to burn thoroughly.
Where can I burn the Bonfire Light ‘n Go Log?
The Bonfire Light ‘n Go Log can be burned indoors or out, and in a setting suitable for burning wood, such as a fireplace, chiminea or fire pit. It should be placed on a non-flammable surface and away from flammable objects. Stone surfaces are suitable, concrete is not.
What chemicals are in the Bonfire Light ‘n Go Log that makes it light and burn?
There are no chemicals in the Bonfire Light ‘n Go Log. The Bonfire is lit by a natural wick made of paper board and vegetable stearin. The wick catches the log on fire. It continues to burn as a result of the patented engineering design which allows air to travel to the flame through the channels under the log.
Can the Bonfire Light ‘n Go Log be re-started?
The Bonfire Light ‘n Go Log is designed for single use and will burn thoroughly. Once extinguished, it can be re-lit as firewood.
Why is the kindling called Alder Kindling?
Grey Alder is a species of softer hardwood. In Europe, this is the most popular wood used for kindling.
Why is your firewood more expensive than the local firewood I have purchased in the past?
Eco Forest firewood is very different from your local hardwood. All firewood items in the Eco Forest line are dried in a kiln to the USDA standard, which eliminates any pest or mold on the products, and allows them to light easily and burn thoroughly and consistently. Local hardwood is usually not kiln dried, and may carry pests within. Air drying, regardless of the time seasoned, will not perform like Eco Forest kiln dried firewood, in its ease of lighting or its thorough burn through.
Can I buy whole birch logs?
Yes, our European Whole White Birch Logs are available in bundles of 4 to 7 pieces, cut to 16 inches in length.
What is the difference between birch and hardwood?
Eco Forest Mixed Hardwood is a long burning, 16”, mix of select hardwoods, which offer the longest fire while still being easy to light and thorough burn through. For those who seek a natural beauty, white birch is not only excellent firewood, but is a popular décor item. Cut to 12” for multiple venues, split birch looks great stacked or in the fireplace. Birch also offers an exceptional halo, uniquely clean burn, and woody aroma.
